On October 29th, 2010, Stephen S. Fenstemaker II, died from a car accident while a student at Miami University. Stephen was a 2010 graduate of Jackson High School. As a student at Miami University, Stephen was majoring in math and statistics.

To honor our son, we have created a Math Scholarship at Jackson and a Math/Science Scholarship at Louisville. Stephen was very active in both communities. Though he grew up in Jackson, he swam for the Louisville YMCA and was a soccer referee in the Louisville community.

We are announcing the end of our race. This was an emotionally difficult decision that we made together as a family after much contemplation. 

​

We want to thank all of our supporters for your generosity, thoughtfulness, and assistance in helping us heal as a family after losing Stephen. With everyone’s support, we were able to raise over $75,000 in scholarship funds for students in need. This year, the 19th and 20th students will be receiving scholarships in Stephen’s name. None of these accomplishments would have been possible without our supporters, sponsors, and participants! Thank you!

Although the race is over, this is not the end of the scholarship foundation. We are looking into new avenues of raising scholarship funds and will keep everyone updated as decisions are made. Thank you again for everything you’ve done for our family!
